Along with the increasing number of mobile-based applications, the use of web services as a method of data exchange between systems also increased. With the web service technology, the exchange of data between systems with each other becomes easier even though it has a different platform. Increasing the amount of data requires more storage space on the server. Therefore, this research proposed the compression and encryption algorithm to optimize RESTful web service. We proposed LZW compression to reduce the storage space needed to store data on the server. We also proposed a Blowfish and AES-128 algorithm for securing data exchange through the internet network. The results show that all services made can run well and can be accessed through the Android application. In addition, the implementation of compression algorithm resulted in storage space savings of 38% with a compression rate of 1.78. The application of compression algorithm has an impact on the increase of computation time, although not significant.
